PRE-TOM RESTLE DECOYS
IN the Beginning........
William T. Enright & Lawrence Godie
RARE Hollow Fiberglass Canvasback.
Per Decoy Magazine Feb.2008 pg.31:
Cork became scarce in the 1950'S/60's so Bill Enright and Lawrence Godie combined together to create a modern fiberglass decoy.
Even being hollow they decided that the weight of this decoy was too heavy..so they scrapped this idea.
No complete examples where known to have survived..
A RARE combined Mallard decoy pair....
After trying to create a fiberglass decoy and that being to heavy both Enright and Restle created the 1ST foam body version below that would lead to what we know today as Restle Decoys.
Body made by Tom Restle and Carved Heads/Paint by William T. Enright mallard pair ..made together by both men...They only made a few dozen pro-to types together... EST.Circa Late 1960's. Bill Enright eventually dropped out of project.. this is how Tom Restle Decoys where born !!!
Newly acquired Black Duck.
Enright obviously had a major influence on how Restle Decoys where designed. See below pictures :
